This list is a brief overview of many tasks you can do with OPCEx. Please refer to the help files for complete instructions.

• Read process variables daily and generate a report at the end of each day.
  Simply add the OLE for Process Control(OPC) items you want to read to your Excel sheet, then save the sheet. Using the OPCEx scheduler, schedule a daily Excel sheet update and, at the same time, select the action you desire, such as creating a web page or emailing a report.
  
  

•  Read process variables daily and generate a monthly report based on the readings. 
  Simply add the OPC items you want to read to your Excel sheet, then save the sheet. Using the OPCEx scheduler, schedule a daily Excel sheet update. Then schedule a monthly action, such as email or print.
  
  

• Generate htm reports for quick and easy data sharing.
  Add OPC items as desired to Excel sheet, then use the scheduling feature to create an htm report in your shared web directory so anyone can view it.
  
  

• Read OPC items from one server and write the values to another server (create an OPC bridge).
  Add one OPC item to a cell and then link that OPC item to another one by choosing the cell link option from the menu.
  
  

• Read OPC items and write them to a database at given intervals.
  Add one OPC item to a cell and then link that OPC item to the database by choosing the database link option from the menu. You could also schedule this to run at various intervals such as hourly, weekly, etc
  .

• Read and save configuration from the device and use to restore the device to that configuration if needed.
  Add the inactive OPC items for which you would like to save the configuration, click on Read All and save the Excel sheet. When you want to restore the configuration, just open the Excel sheet, start the update, and write all values back to the device.
  
  

• Monitor an OPC item value, such as temperature, and warn designated personnel if the value exceeds specifications.
  Add an active item you want to monitor to the worksheet, then define the alarm conditions for that item. Choose how you want to warn designated personnel, such as by pager or email. You could also schedule this to run at various intervals such as hourly, weekly, etc.
  
  

• Write your own OPC-Aware Excel applications.
  Simply use OPCEx VBA script APIs to create your Excel applications.
